Where is Whichowo?

As with my other recent organic type compositions the original drawing is Sharpie marker on 18” x 24” drawing paper with a bit of white acrylic paint for touching up. I have to say, I worked a lot in the past few months drawing on my tablet but man it feels good to get back to traditional pen-and-paper.

I occasionally take on more traditional portrait commissions.  I recently finished this one for the family of a young man who passed.  I hope it can be for them what they want or need it to be.  My focus was on maintaining a ‘glow’; to encourage a smile.

It is approximately 18” x 24”, painted in layers of acrylic paint mixed with water and some thinning medium.  I paint skin in thin, slightly translucent layers to try and recreate the way light hits, penetrates and reflects off real skin.

A failed attempt at self-bunny ears; I plan on throwing these up anytime my picture is snapped.  So, be ready for that.

A little something put together for the Threadless Sesame Street competition; Count von Count is always a favorite for me.
